The Bristol Cars Factory Archive
For more than two decades, Bristol Cars used its website to publish model information, technical material and company announcements in its own distinctive voice. Much of it survives only in archived copies. This collection reproduces selected documents as they were published, with their provenance and a short note on what each does and does not establish.
What these documents are
Historical material written and published by Bristol Cars Ltd, the company that built Bristols until 2011. They are primary sources, not statements by Bristol Cars Group Ltd, which publishes its own announcements on the news page. Every figure in them is the claim Bristol made at the time.
How each page is laid out
Three labelled parts: the document’s provenance (its original title, its address on bristolcars.co.uk, how it is dated and which archived capture was used); a transcription in Bristol’s own words; and a modern editorial note from Bristol Cars Group, kept separate so that the two are never confused.
On dates
Where a document states its own date, that date is given. Where it does not, it is described as archived on the date of the capture, which shows only that the text existed by then. A capture date is never presented as a publication date, and the historical addresses shown are provenance, not current locations.
