The car, as described by SLJ Hackett
Bristol Brigand Series 2 – 1984 5.9-litre V8 automatic coupé
This 1984 Bristol Brigand Series 2 is a highly distinctive and carefully improved example, finished in a beautifully judged Oak Green metallic inspired by period Volkswagen/Porsche colours. The shade suits the car extremely well, giving the Blenheim’s long, understated coupé profile a richer and more purposeful appearance than its original silver finish.
Please note that the photographs show the car wearing its original registration number, B264 MLP. The car is now offered with the private registration BS4970, which has recently been valued at approximately £2,000 and may be included by separate agreement.
The car has benefited from significant expenditure and thoughtful upgrading over a number of years. Under previous ownership, the interior was smartly re-trimmed in black hide, which now presents with exactly the right level of mature patina. The cabin feels authentic and comfortable rather than over-restored, with good carpets, a correct replacement headlining and a beautifully re-veneered dashboard. LED instrument lighting and a new Smiths clock have also been fitted, adding usability while retaining the correct period character.
Mechanically, the car has received a replacement reconditioned engine, set up with a new MSD ignition unit by Coleman Classic Cars. Further improvements include a Harvey Bailey handling kit, Blenheim wheels and AP Racing four-pot brakes, making this a much sharper and more confidence-inspiring car to drive than a standard example. A battery master switch has also been fitted.
The bodywork has been repainted in Oak Green, with additional finishing carried out by Mitchell Motors. The chassis has also received refurbishment work, including welding by Ralph Hosier Engineering, followed by Waxoyl protection. The car has had considerable rewiring, together with practical modern additions including central locking, a simple immobiliser and remote boot release.
Further details include new Talbot Tagora headlights, which are correct for the model, and the car has notable media history, having been featured in Evo, Octane, and as the Bristol Brigand on the Honest John website.
This is a rare opportunity to acquire a usable, handsome and well-sorted V8 Bristol coupé with tasteful upgrades, strong presentation and genuine enthusiast provenance. It is not a concours trailer queen; it is a properly usable Bristol with character, presence and considerable work already carried out.
